Joomla Index Directory FAQs

  • Why is it that only websites using Joomla! content management system can be added to the Joomla Index Directory?
The Joomla Index Joomla Directory is for joomla-index.com members who use the Joomla! CMS as the basis on which to deliver website content to the world wide web. Having decided to use Joomla!, is an indicator a lot of thought has been given to deploying what is widely known as one of the best free website content management systems available. Joomla Index respects this and decided to make the Directory available only to those users. This makes Joomla Index unique.

  • My website failed the validation process while trying to add it to the directory, what happens now?
Your website failed the validation process most probably because you tried to add a non-Joomla! website, or it was joomla based but in a subfolder, to the directory and saw this message: -

    validate

If this is the case, either [1], move your joomla based website to the root folder, or [2], consider using Joomla! as the basis of delivering your website content. However, we do not make any recommendations in respect of [2] and any decision you make is totally up to you. Joomla Index does not allow any website to be added that uses a redirect from its main URL to internal pages.

Any website that fails the validation process will automatically be removed after 60 days and joomla-index.com membership cancelled. The 60 day period allows a member of joomla-index.com the opportunity to re-enter their website details, having converted it to one of the Joomla! CMS versions.
  • Do I have to use the "Verification Seal" to link to joomla-index.com?
We encourage the use of the seal, most people know the importance of reciprocal links.  If you decide to use it, it will help joomla-index maintain its search engine position and thus help drive website traffic to listed websites. However, this is not mandatory, but we do reserve the right to change this from time to time to maintain a balance of one-way links from the directory, and reciprocal links between joomla-index.com and our members websites'.

  • Can I add more than one website?
More than one website may be added after the first validation instance.

  • Can I have my directory listing featured?
Directory listings can of course be featured, there is a premium to pay for this service. More info about this can be found in the directory.

  • Can I, or my company sponsor the website?
The Joomla Index website can be sponsored. A sponsores info can be displayed on any internal web page. We do not allow links on the home page.

  • Can I, or my company sponsor any of the Joomla Index Directory categories?
Categories can be sponsored. Sponsorship info will be displayed on the category home page.

  • How do I use the Joomla Index verification seal?
During the process of adding a website link, if you have decide on a two way link there is the oportunity to download one of two Verification Seals to link back to Joomla Index. If you decide on a one way link you do not have to link back to Joomla Index. But bear this in mind - the more links to Joomla index, the better for all who have decided to add their website as a resource.

One can also right click the seal and 'save as'. Only these seals are allowed when linking back to Joomla Index. The link alt tag must contain the words "Joomla Index Validated". This is the only time the seal may be used.

  • What component does Joomla Index use as the basis of its website directory?
Joomla Index Directory uses a customised commercial version of JV-LD.
JV-LD is an extremely advanced directory and link management Joomla! extension with statistics reporting features.

Joomla Index is grateful to JV-LD extension developers, jv-extensions, for their input and expertise in its customisation.

  • Can I use the customised version of JV-LD?
No. The customised JV-LD component is for use only by Joomla Index. However, if you need a professional link or directory component, then we suggest the default version which does not cost a fortune. You can view it here: JV-LD
